DOI assignment service
The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) is a persistent identifier for digital objects that makes it possible to uniquely distinguish scientific documentation.
The importance of this service lies in the possibility of obtaining a permanent identifier for a publication deposited in the repository, facilitating interoperability, dissemination, retrieval, referencing, and the collection of indicators and metrics.
The assignment of a DOI is a free service provided by Instituto Superior Técnico’s Library (BIST) to the IST academic community, following the subscription to DataCite registration services, acquired through an application submitted by the University of Lisbon in a national call from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
Through this form, the requester can easily request a unique identifier for any digital object made available in open access in the Scholar Institutional Repository.
To learn about the conditions, please refer to the DOI assignment Procedures Manual of Instituto Superior Técnico.
